strategy, and his engaging, down-to-earth teaching style.
Founder
of Rio Jiu-Jitsu Academy in Chicago, he has produced countless skilled
students while remaining a student of the art himself.
The Carlson Gracie Legacy
Carlson
Gracie Sr. (1932–2006) was the son of Carlos Gracie and one of the
pioneers who took Gracie Jiu-Jitsu from challenge matches into a team
sport.
He
built the famed Carlson Gracie Team in Brazil—one of the first true
“fight teams” that produced generations of champions and was
instrumental in shaping modern MMA.
Carlson believed in hard
training, pressure, and a team-first philosophy. His approach emphasized
offense, aggression, and effectiveness—qualities that still define
competitive BJJ today.
Carlson Gracie Jr. continues that
tradition, teaching around the world and awarding black belts like Pete “The Greek,” who carry the lineage forward.
Don’t miss this chance to train directly with Pete, learn techniques rooted in Carlson’s
legendary system, and be part of the living history of Jiu-Jitsu.
