Biography

Patrick "Pat the Gat" Gatbunton is Chicago MMA's Head Coach for the Kids BJJ Program and a second-degree black belt under Professor Misho Ceko. He has been training jiu-jitsu since 2016 — that's over 11 years of mat time, and counting.

Pat's coaching style is direct, detail-oriented, and genuinely fun. He has a gift for breaking down complex technique into concepts that stick, whether he's working with a nervous four-year-old or a teenager preparing for their first competition. His unofficial job title? "Yelling 'Jiu-Jitsu!' at people." It's more accurate than it sounds.

Off the mat, Pat is the proud founder of the WatchDawg Watch Club — a community for watch enthusiasts who also happen to train. He has two non-negotiable rules in life: always wear a watch to class, and never go barefoot in a gym bathroom. Both are enforced with equal conviction.

His walkout song is "Shimmy Shimmy Ya" by ODB. If you know, you know.
