The Gentle Art — Ralph Gracie Lineage
Technique over strength. Leverage over power.
Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu is the world's most effective ground-fighting system, built on the principle that a smaller, weaker person can defeat a larger opponent through superior technique and leverage. Chicago MMA trains under the Ralph Gracie lineage — one of the most respected BJJ families in the world — ensuring you receive authentic, competition-tested instruction.
Whether you're stepping on the mat for the first time or preparing for your next tournament, our structured curriculum takes you from foundational positions and escapes through advanced submissions and competition strategy. BJJ is also one of the most effective forms of stress relief and full-body conditioning available.

The Art of Eight Limbs — Sityodtong Lineage
Fists, elbows, knees, kicks. The complete striking system.
Muay Thai is Thailand's national sport and the world's most powerful striking art, utilizing fists, elbows, knees, and kicks — earning it the name "The Art of Eight Limbs." Chicago MMA trains in the authentic Sityodtong tradition, one of the most storied and respected Muay Thai camps in the world.
Our Muay Thai program develops explosive striking power, elite cardiovascular conditioning, and the mental toughness that comes from authentic Thai boxing training. From your first pad session to your first fight, our coaches build you up systematically — emphasizing proper technique, timing, and ring strategy at every level.

Ages 5–13 · Character Through Martial Arts
More than self-defense — we build confident, disciplined kids.
The Kids & Youth BJJ program at Chicago MMA is designed to give children far more than self-defense skills. Through structured, age-appropriate training, kids develop focus, confidence, discipline, and resilience — qualities that serve them in school, sports, and life.
Our Kids program (ages 5–9) uses games, movement drills, and playful partner work to build coordination and introduce basic BJJ concepts. The Youth program (ages 9–13) advances into structured technique, positional drilling, and light competition preparation. Both programs are taught in a safe, encouraging environment where every child is celebrated for effort and improvement.

Unstructured training time. Your mat, your game.
Open Mat is unstructured training time where members can drill techniques, roll with partners, work on specific positions, or simply get extra mat time outside of regular classes. It's one of the most valuable sessions in any martial artist's week — a chance to experiment, review, and sharpen the skills developed in structured classes.
Open Mat is open to all active members across BJJ, Muay Thai, and MMA. Coaches are typically present to answer questions and provide guidance, but the session is self-directed. Bring a partner, find one on the mat, or use the time for solo drilling and bag work.
Open to all active members regardless of level. Respectful rolling culture enforced.
Try any class for 7 days — our coaches will help you find the right fit for your goals.
